Man rapes, kills trader on farm in Ondo

 
A Magistrate ’s Court in Akure , Ondo State , has remanded one Isaac Ojo for allegedly killing a trader, Mrs. Lydia Ayeni, on her farm in Ipe Akoko , in the Akoko South -East Local Government Area of Ondo State .
The suspect had allegedly raped the victim in the bush before killing her on February 28 , 2018 when the incident happened .
PUNCH Metro gathered that Ayeni had gone to her farm that morning to work . When she did not return home by afternoon , a search party was organised to look for her .
Her corpse was reportedly found in the bush the following day .
“ There was blood in her private parts . We saw signs that she struggled with somebody in the bush.
“ It was later discovered that it was Ojo that carried out the dastardly act and he was arrested ,” a village source said .
The police prosecutor, Mr . Martins Olowofeso , said the accused hit the 45 -year- old woman with a stone in the head which resulted in her death .
He noted that the offence was punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Cap. 37 , Vol . 1 , Laws of Ondo State 2006.
The magistrate , Mrs . Victoria Bob- Manuel, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions .
